Job summary

Building Ventures in Philadelphia is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our night and weekend paving crew. You will run pavers, rollers, milling machines, backhoes and skid steers on road construction sites, ensuring safety and on-schedule progress.

This hands-on role requires at least 2 years of equipment experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to pass drug screening. Training and advancement opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment operating experience in milling, paving or related work.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Clear verbal communication in English to coordinate with crew and supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Operate asphalt pavers, rollers, milling machines, backhoes, and skid steers for milling and paving.
  • Perform non-mechanical maintenance: clean, grease, check fluid levels and report issues.
  • Discuss daily plans with field manager and follow site work sequences.
  • Maintain communication with crew and traffic control to keep the area safe.
  • Work night and weekend shifts and may require travel/overnight stays.

About This RoleJoin a paving and milling crew in Philadelphia as a Heavy Equipment Operator working nights and weekends to build and maintain roads and infrastructure. You'll run asphalt pavers, rollers, milling machines, backhoes and skid steers while keeping the jobsite safe, productive and on schedule. This role is hands-on: you'll perform non-mechanical maintenance, follow daily plans from the field manager, communicate with the crew, and be ready for occasional overnight travel.
