Purpose and Scope

OVERVIEW

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The role involves operating a variety of heavy trucks, tractors, and construction equipment on a regular basis. Responsibilities include checking for proper functioning, operating equipment such as street sweepers, bulldozers, front-end loaders, asphalt paving machines, rollers, twin axle trucks, backhoes, tractors, forklifts, skid steer loaders, and motor patrols.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Level dirt in parking lots in preparation for asphalt work.
  2. Distribute earth to desired levels.
  3. Cut, swell, and ditch for drainage as needed.
  4. Use equipment to dig ditches for renovations.
  5. Digs and/or loads dirt, sand, gravel onto trucks or other equipment.
  6. Utilize equipment to excavate and grade for site improvements.
  7. Remove trees and rocks from land using equipment.
  8. Operate forklifts to move materials, equipment, and furniture.
  9. Service equipment with gas, oil, and water as needed.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalency required. Requires four (4) years of related experience and a valid state Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). A full Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or National Institute for Automotive Service certification is preferred.

Degree Equivalency:

Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years plus required experience.

Master’s Degree = 2 years plus required experience. For Master’s degrees, include years for Bachelor’s Degrees.
