The City of Marinette is seeking a dedicated and skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This position supports both the Public Works and Cemetery departments and involves a variety of tasks including road maintenance, equipment operation, and cemetery services. Public Works key duties include, but are not limited to: Operate construction and maintenance equipment including excavators, loaders, and trucks; Perform road repair, snow plowing, and general maintenance of streets and public infrastructure; Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Cemetery duties: Perform burials, including grave excavation and dressing; Assist with lifting and placing caskets on lowering devices; Align and reset headstones; and maintain cemetery grounds, including mowing, trimming, and general upkeep.
The typical work schedule is 40 hours a week, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (hours outside of normal schedule may vary based on seasonal and emergency response). Salary: The 2025 hourly pay for this position is $28.00 / hour. This position is eligible for the annual COLA pending City Council approval.
Qualifications : Possession of a valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B or C with N endorsement. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in equipment operation, road maintenance, or construction preferred. Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks. Availability for on-call work, especially during snow removal operations or emergency situations.
Residency : Applicant is required to within six months of hire, establish residency within thirty (30) miles of the jurisdictional boundary of the City of Marinette in the State of Wisconsin.
