Job Description

Position Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

Agency: 345 DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

Location: 194286 US 271, Antlers, OK 74523

This role involves operating power equipment and performing highway maintenance tasks. The position offers a salary range of $40,600 to $47,100 per year, depending on experience and level.

Responsibilities
  • Operate equipment such as trucks, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, and snow removal machinery.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities.
  • Repair roadway shoulders, bridge decks, and replace signs, guardrails, and fences.
  • Assist with traffic control and apply herbicide for vegetation management.
  • Remove debris and obstacles from highways.
Levels and Qualifications

Level I: No prior experience required; knowledge of safe operation of machinery; manual labor skills.

Level II: At least 1 year of heavy equipment operation experience; knowledge of highway maintenance materials and traffic control; valid Oklahoma driver’s license (commercial license preferred).

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds regularly and 100 pounds occasionally, with capabilities for standing, walking, reaching, and operating machinery.
