Job summary

Sundance Mountain Resort seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to support snow removal and related outdoor tasks. You will operate loaders, backhoes, snowplows, and other equipment to keep parking lots and roads clear.

The role requires working outdoors in varying winter conditions and responding to on-call needs. A valid US driver’s license and basic equipment maintenance knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Operate heavy equipment such as front end loader, backhoe, snowplow, sander and dozer.
• Must possess a valid U.S. Drivers' License.
• Ability to perform in outdoor winter conditions and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Clear snow and ice around the resort as needed and on call.
• Operate heavy equipment and snowplow in accordance with manufacturer guidance.
• Inspect equipment and perform basic preventative maintenance.
• Ensure parking lots and roads are free of hazards and clean.

Job description

Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

Rate of Pay: $23.00 - $25.00/hour

Shift: Varies and on-call

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly

SUMMARY

Assists in all heavy equipment and snowplow functions related to snow removal. Operator may be asked to support other departments with such activities as: tree and shrub relocation or removal, ground leveling, excavation, sand and gravel placement, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Clear snow and ice that accumulates around the resort as needed and on call. These areas include all parking lots, roads, Nordic Center, and pathways.
• Snow removal efforts include the operations of heavy equipment, (e.g. front end loader, backhoe, skid steer) and snow plow with salt spreader.
• Operate heavy equipment and snowplow in accordance with the training you receive manufacturer's recommendations.
• Pile snow in the designated and approved locations only.
• Ensure equipment is in good condition through daily equipment and vehicle inspections.
• Performing the necessary preventative maintenance on the equipment and vehicles, (e.g., oil changes, grease, etc.)
• Report safety concerns with equipment
• Ensures parking lots and roads are free of hazards.
• Fuel equipment and vehicles in accordance with company protocols.
• Works in extreme temperatures and outdoor weather conditions
• Report all injuries to Snow Removal Foreman
• Ensure cleanliness of equipment, vehicles, shuttles and parking lots.

QUALIFICATIONS

• One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge and ability to operate heavy equipment such as front end loader, backhoe, snowplow, sander and dozer.
• Must possess a valid U.S. Drivers' License in good standing as determined by Sundance's Insurance Company guidelines.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to sit for extended periods, stand for several hours in wet and cold conditions or hot and dusty conditions.
• Must be 21 years of age or older

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
