Job summary

International Search Consultants seeks an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic (CAT) to support Missouri post-collection operations. Based in Winfield, MO, with travel to multiple locations as needed.

You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on CAT heavy equipment, ensuring safety, reliability, and uptime. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, meticulous records, and collaboration with fleet and operations teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of CAT heavy equipment mechanic experience.
• Able to read technical manuals and schematics.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 100 lbs and working outdoors.
• Strong communication and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel between Missouri locations.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and scheduled preventive maintenance on CAT heavy equipment and vehicles (bulldozers, loaders, excavators, other yellow iron).
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems.
• Identify issues and perform or recommend repairs to maintain reliability and minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions independently and prioritize repairs for daily operations.
• Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in accordance with policies and OSHA.
• Collaborate with fleet management and operations to keep equipment operational.
• Travel between Missouri operating locations as needed.

Work Location: Based in Winfield, Missouri, with travel to additional operating locations as needed.

ISC's team of Recruiters is partnering with an established environmental services organization to identify an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Yellow Iron) to support Missouri post-collection operations. This position will perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment across multiple operating locations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CAT heavy equipment mechanic who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting, working independently, and keeping mission-critical equipment safe, reliable, and operational.

What You'll Do

• Perform repairs and scheduled preventive maintenance on CAT heavy equipment and vehicles, including bulldozers, loaders, excavators, and other yellow iron machinery.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems.
• Identify equipment issues and complete or recommend appropriate repairs to maintain reliability and minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions independently and prioritize repairs to support daily operations.
• Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
• Work collaboratively with fleet management and operations teams to keep equipment properly maintained and operational.
• Travel between Missouri operating locations as needed.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 4+ years of experience as a CAT heavy equipment mechanic.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of heavy equipment systems and maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, pushing, and pulling objects up to 100 lbs., and to work outdoors in varying weather and landfill conditions.

Preferred Experience

• ASE Diesel Certification or equivalent technical certification.
• Experience operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers, loaders, excavators, and similar equipment.
• Familiarity with landfill or construction environments.
• Experience troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, brake, air, and suspension systems.
• Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and proper PPE use.
