Job summary

International Search Consultants is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Yellow Iron) based in Bowling Green, Missouri, with travel to other operating locations as needed. The role performs preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs to ensure mission-critical equipment remains safe, reliable and operational.

Qualified candidates have 4+ years of CAT heavy equipment experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to read manuals and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on CAT equipment (bulldozers, loaders, excavators, etc.).
• Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, suspension and brake systems.
• Identify issues and recommend repairs to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions independently and prioritize repairs.
• Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
• Work safely and keep work area compliant with OSHA requirements.

Job description

Work Location: Based in Bowling Green, Missouri, with travel to additional operating locations as needed.

ISC's team of Recruiters is partnering with an established environmental services organization to identify an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Yellow Iron) to support Missouri post-collection operations. This position will perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment across multiple operating locations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CAT heavy equipment mechanic who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting, working independently, and keeping mission-critical equipment safe, reliable, and operational.

What You'll Do

• Perform repairs and scheduled preventive maintenance on CAT heavy equipment and vehicles, including bulldozers, loaders, excavators, and other yellow iron machinery.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems.
• Identify equipment issues and complete or recommend appropriate repairs to maintain reliability and minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions independently and prioritize repairs to support daily operations.
• Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
• Work collaboratively with fleet management and operations teams to keep equipment properly maintained and operational.
• Travel between Missouri operating locations as needed.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 4+ years of experience as a CAT heavy equipment mechanic.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of heavy equipment systems and maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, pushing, and pulling objects up to 100 lbs., and to work outdoors in varying weather and landfill conditions.

Preferred Experience

• ASE Diesel Certification or equivalent technical certification.
• Experience operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers, loaders, excavators, and similar equipment.
• Familiarity with landfill or construction environments.
• Experience troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, brake, air, and suspension systems.
• Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and proper PPE use.
