Job summary

Meridian Waste seeks a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance and repairs at Noble Hill Landfill in Attalla, AL. You will diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on heavy machinery, with priority given to safety and efficiency.

Requirements include 2+ years as a Diesel Mechanic, ability to lift 100 pounds, strong reading/writing skills, and ASE Diesel Certification preferred. Experience operating heavy equipment is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Excellent reading and writing skills.

Responsibilities

Job DetailsJob Location: Noble Hill Landfill - Attalla, AL 35954Position Type: Full TimeWe are looking for a Heavy Equipment (Yellow Iron) Mechanic to join our team at our Eagle Ridge Landfill location in Bowling Green, MO. In this position you will be doing preventative maintenance and repairs on our heavy equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.
• Performs inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to efficiently operate bulldozers, wheel loaders, motor grader, scraper, compactor, excavator. Able to operate preferred, but not required.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment is desired.
• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
