Job summary

ValCorp is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic with a Class A CDL to support government contract operations at Fort Polk, Louisiana. The role involves inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and testing heavy equipment and related components in accordance with Army requirements and contract specifications.

The ideal candidate has five or more years of heavy equipment maintenance experience, holds a valid Class A CDL, and can read technical manuals and schematics.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of heavy equipment maintenance experience.
• Current Class A CDL required; may be obtained within 90 days of employment.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain facility credentials and customer access.
• Valid state driver's license and ability to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
• Ability to read and apply technical manuals, schematics, data tables, and safety requirements.
• Must provide and maintain a General Mechanics Toolbox.
• Forklift certification, site credentials, and medical requirements as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, repair, rebuild, and test heavy equipment and components.
• Identify equipment defects using diagnostic equipment and manuals.
• Remove, replace, and repair engines, transmissions, subassemblies, and other major components.
• Use technical manuals, schematics, specialized tools, lifting equipment, and diagnostic equipment to perform maintenance.
• Perform welding and structural repairs when qualified and assigned.
• Ensure all maintenance and repair work complies with Army, contract, safety, and quality requirements.
• Complete required maintenance records, reports, and documentation.
• Assist with parts cleaning, assembly, disassembly, and other maintenance activities as required.
• Recommend improvements to maintenance procedures and work processes.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
