Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is seeking a skilled Mechanic for District 03 to maintain, repair, and overhaul heavy mobile equipment and complex mechanical systems. The position reports to the Mobile Equipment Shop Superintendent and requires the ability to work with minimal supervision and participate in DOTD training programs.

Compensation is provided for Mechanic-1, Mechanic-2, and Mechanic-3 levels with hourly rates of $17.18, $19.67, and $21.05 respectively.

Qualifications

• One year of experience or training as a mechanic.

Responsibilities

• Overhauls, rebuilds and performs major repairs on heavy-duty diesel equipment.
• Performs major repairs on gasoline engines of all makes and models.
• Performs diagnostic tests on various systems to locate malfunctions in electrical systems.
• Troubleshoots and repairs transmissions in heavy-duty diesel equipment.
• Removes drive lines and rebuilds on heavy duty diesel, cars and light trucks.
