Job summary

North Slope Borough seeks a Heavy Equipment Mechanic Trainee to service, diagnose and repair light to heavy equipment across village sites. You will perform inspections, routine maintenance and repairs, while building knowledge of equipment and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED required.
• Must obtain IS 100, 200, 700, 800 within probation.
• CPR, AED and Basic First Aid certifications required.
• Ability to obtain site-specific RCRA training within probation.
• HAZWOPER training required within probation.
• Small Quantity Handler training within probation.
• SPCC training within probation.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and safety checks on equipment.
• Schedule and perform maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Diagnose drivability issues and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
• Operate diagnostic tools and various hand and power tools.
• Maintain records, work orders, and reports.
• Travel to North Slope Borough villages as required.
• Attend safety meetings and training sessions.
