Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in North Kingstown, RI, seeks a Heavy Equipment Mechanic responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy mobile equipment such as mobile cranes, forklifts, and manlifts. The role requires repairing diesel engines and complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.

You will perform PM inspections, major repairs, and troubleshooting, with travel for major moves as needed, and participate in safety and training programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent OR a minimum of 2 years related technical experience.
• 3+ years of mechanic experience.
• Diesel engine repair and maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform PM inspections and tests per directives and safety standards.
• Complete major repairs and overhauls on mobile equipment.
• Repair, replace, diagnose pistons, valves, bearings, cylinders.
• Repair and troubleshoot electromechanical controls on mobile equipment.
• Work safely per OSHA and company safety manual.
• Perform maintenance checks of fluids, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, and clutches.
• Test and adjust hydraulic valves, pumps, and motors.
• Travel periodically to support major moves.
