Bowhead Family of Companies in Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with HVAC experience to support the Maintenance Division. The role involves maintenance and repair of internal combustion vehicles and HVAC systems, with diagnostic and rebuild tasks.

The position requires a high school diploma with 2+ years’ experience, EPA certification, a valid CDL, forklift license, and basic MS Office skills. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years’ experience as a motor vehicle mechanic and HVAC repair technician.
• EPA Certification for the equipment/materials used.
• Valid state CDL and ability to obtain/maintain forklift license.
• Basic to intermediate MS Office skills (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work alone or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide air conditioning/refrigeration maintenance and repair services.
• Operate refrigerant dispensing and recovery equipment with proper record keeping.
• Repair or overhaul major assemblies of vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose issues and determine repairs needed.
• Replace worn parts such as piston rings and bearings.
• Grind and adjust valves; rebuild carburetors; overhaul transmissions.
• Repair fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
