Job summary

Enviro-Clean Equipment is seeking an experienced heavy truck and equipment technician to inspect, service, and repair a range of heavy-duty refuse equipment. The role involves on-site and in-house work with a focus on diagnostics and preventive maintenance.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with heavy machinery, reads electrical/hydraulic schematics, and can operate fleet maintenance software. A valid license and own tools are required; welding or fabrication skills are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license or equivalent required.
  • High school diploma or GED with vocational training or related coursework.
  • Preference for experience in refuse industry/environment.
  • Automotive or mechanical knowledge is a plus.
  • Must own tools of the trade.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, service, and repair heavy-duty refuse trucks and equipment.
  • Perform electrical and hydraulic diagnostics and repairs.
  • Read electrical/hydraulic schematics and use vehicle computer systems.
  • Estimate time and materials for repairs and requisition parts.
  • Complete paperwork using fleet maintenance software and document times.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area adhering to OSHA standards.
  • Assist senior mechanics on projects and follow established procedures.

Summary

We are looking to hire an experienced heavy truck and equipment technician to inspect, service, and repair a range of heavy-duty refuse equipment. As a shop technician, you will be responsible for inspecting trucks and equipment, carrying out services and conducting repairs in-house and on-site.

We are looking to hire an experienced heavy truck and equipment technician to inspect, service, and repair a range of heavy-duty refuse equipment. As a shop technician, you will be responsible for inspecting trucks and equipment, carrying out services and conducting repairs in-house and on-site. To ensure success as a refute technician, you should have proven experience working with heavy machinery, be physically fit, and be able to troubleshoot issues. Ultimately, a top-notch heavy equipment mechanic can repair and service even the biggest machinery with expert care. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Works under limited supervision and selects from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Performs repairs, inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic for vehicles and equipment
  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs
  • Must have the ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and requisitions new parts
  • Performs all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs)
  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles
  • Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times
  • Good communication skills relative to supervisor & other related departments
  • Assists senior Mechanics in the completion of project work
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures
  • Welding and fabricating experience is a plus
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, plus the physical ability to work in awkward positions such as kneeling, lying down, and overhead
  • Must have the ability to climb and work from a ladder
  • Ability to operate various shop tools (saws, drills, fork lifts, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned
Education
  • Required: Valid driver’s license & transportation
  • Required: a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent plus vocational training or job-related course work.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in Refuse Industry/Environment
  • Preferred: Automotive or other mechanical knowledge
  • Welding and fabricating experience is a plus
  • Must have own tools of the trade
