Job summary

Tessera is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic (EVT III) in Silverdale, WA to perform maintenance on ARFF and related fire apparatus and support equipment. The role requires five years of vehicle maintenance experience and applicable ASE/EVT certifications.

Valid driver’s license and insurance coverage are required. Responsibilities include major/minor repairs, brake and suspension work, and following NFPA and OEM guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of vehicle maintenance experience.
  • ASE (T-1 through T-7, and L-2) certification or ability to obtain one.
  • EVT (F-1 through F-6 and A-1 through A-3) Level III Fire Apparatus and ARFF vehicle technician certification or ability to obtain one.
  • Valid state driver’s license and ability to maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance on Aircraft Rescue & Fire‑Fighting (ARFF) vehicles, Fire Apparatus vehicles, wheeled vehicles, track vehicles, engineer equipment, power generation, and material handling equipment.
  • Accomplish minor repairs and services outlined in technical manuals and IAW National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
  • Perform inspection and repair on brakes, suspension, wheels, hubs, and steering systems IAW with OEM recommendations and NFPA standards.
  • Understand and follow technical manuals, lube orders, wiring, and hydraulic schematics to ensure proper diagnosis and repair during annual services.
  • Perform major repair jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, removing components, removal and installation of assemblies, and installation of components.
  • Maintain Operational Vehicle Maintenance schedules.
  • Prepare and maintain reports—including schedules, training, attendance, evaluations, employee documentation, correct time‑keeping, and accident reports.
  • Train employees on job tasks and assignments for complete understanding.
  • Monitor employee performance to ensure efficient use of time and quality of work.
  • Coach, mentor, and resolve employee concerns in a respectful and mutually beneficial manner.
  • Record daily personnel attendance and track employee absences, tardiness, etc.

Compensation: $51.75–$51.75 per hour

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
  • Repetitive motions, reaching, kneeling, walking, standing, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs for extended periods.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure for extended periods.
Security and Clearance
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
  • Background check and E‑Verify will be conducted.
