Job summary

The Town of Mooresville is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and overhaul heavy equipment and trucks. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnostic tests, and component replacements to keep assets safe and reliable.

Advanced skills in diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and welding will be utilized daily. Applicants should have a High School diploma or GED, 5–7 years of related experience, and a valid North Carolina driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; 5–7 years of related experience.
• Associate degree or equivalent combination with 3–5 years of experience preferred.
• Possession of NC Driver’s License and relevant certifications desired.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, repair, and overhaul heavy equipment and heavy trucks.
• Perform preventative maintenance and component replacements.
• Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, fuel, and brake systems.
• Welding and light fabrication to support repairs.
• Maintain repair records and ensure safety compliance.
