Job summary

JB Harris Transport LLC is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment across the United States. The role involves extensive hands-on work in both shop and outdoor yard environments, with emphasis on safety and accurate documentation.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, performing preventative maintenance, and reading schematics.

Qualifications

• ASE Certification or equivalent
• Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical systems
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical and technical problems
• Ability to read schematics, prints and service manuals
• Welding and fabrication knowledge as applicable
• Proficiency with hand and power tools and shop equipment
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights up to 15 ft, and perform physical labor in various weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Valid driver's license required

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, electrical/electronic systems, and drivetrains
• Perform preventative maintenance (oil changes, filter replacements, inspections)
• Light assembly work (attaching buckets, hydraulic couplers, forks & carriages)
• Troubleshoot and repair A/C systems, suspensions, brakes, and steering systems
• Read and interpret manuals, service bulletins, schematics, and diagnostic codes
• Use diagnostic software, test equipment, and precision tools to identify and resolve issues
• Complete work orders and documentation accurately and timely
• Follow safety standards and proper PPE usage
• Maintain accountability for tools, equipment and vehicles
• Mentor junior mechanics or apprentices when applicable
• Perform other related duties as assigned
