Job summary

SIX MILE, LLC is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for Kodiak, Alaska. The role involves maintenance and repair of diverse heavy equipment, following procedures and safety rules, with supervision from a Shop Lead at the U.S. Coast Guard Base in Kodiak.

Responsibilities include servicing all heavy equipment types, documenting work, diagnosing with tools, and ensuring timely completion of tasks. Candidates must have strong English communication, be able to obtain access to military installations,

Qualifications

• Must communicate clearly (oral and written) in English
• Valid Alaska driver’s license required
• Five years' experience on diesel heavy equipment
• CDL required or ability to gain CDL within 6 months
• Must pass drug screening and background check to access military base
• Reliable transportation to/from work is required to access installations

Responsibilities

• Performs work on all types of heavy equipment
• Complete work in accordance with contractual timelines
• Write service reports and read blueprints and manuals
• Operate and test equipment after service/repair
• Use diagnostic tools and research manuals
• Keep work area clean and safe
• Maintain awareness of safety and hazardous waste procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned
