Job summary

Rainier Veneer is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our maintenance team and keep mobile equipment and heavy machinery safe, reliable, and productive in a demanding industrial environment.

The role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on Caterpillar equipment, forklifts, manlifts, and other diesel-powered machinery. On-site work with team collaboration supports safety and uptime.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment, diesel, or industrial mechanic.
• Experience working on Hyster forklifts, Caterpillar equipment, and/or Genie manlifts is highly desirable.
• Welding/fabrication experience is a plus. Ability to work independently and prioritize repairs in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain forklifts, heavy machinery, manlifts, and industrial equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
• Repair and maintain diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, transmissions, brakes, steering, and other mechanical components.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform repairs to minimize production downtime.
• Weld and fabricate as needed for equipment repairs and modifications.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance.
• Follow all company safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements.
• Work closely with production and maintenance personnel to identify and resolve equipment issues.

Monday - Friday, 5:00am to 1:30pm, with weekend and on-call availability as needed.
