Job summary

SSA Marine is seeking an Equipment Mechanic to diagnose and repair machinery and heavy equipment on site. The role requires handling preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination with vendors to keep production running smoothly.

You will work in rotating shifts, operate a variety of equipment, and uphold safety standards while maintaining logs and inventory to ensure operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years maintaining and repairing heavy equipment and machinery.
• Class B license, Medical Examiner's Certification, and clean DVR.
• Experience with power and hand tools.
• Knowledge of safety and accident prevention codes.
• Knowledge of parts and inventory management.
• Strong communication skills.
• Must observe all safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on engines, motors, conveyors, and production equipment per diagrams and manuals.
• Locate sources of problems by observing machinery in operation and using measuring/testing tools.
• Minimize downtime by scheduling maintenance and informing managers.
• Develop relationships with vendors and service companies.
• Maintain parts inventories and anticipate repairs to support efficiency.
• Provide maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and adhere to regulations.
• Keep logs of repairs and maintenance and follow schedules.
• Report issues to the Manager and perform other related duties.

Job description

The Equipment Mechanic is part of the Operations team and is responsible for diagnosing and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment.

Essential Responsibilities

• Ensures the operational condition of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and repairs on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, heavy machines and equipment, and production equipment; following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; and troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; and by using measuring and testing equipment.
• Controls downtime by informing managers of routine maintenance scheduling and techniques.
• Develops and maintains professional working relationships with outside parts and supply vendors and service companies.
• Maintains equipment parts and supply inventories by determining appropriate inventory levels and controlling the inventory stock; anticipating needed repairs and pre-ordering parts and supplies to ensure all maintenance and repair is performed in a manner to support operational efficiency.
• Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Maintains logs detailing equipment repairs and maintenance and adheres to the equipment maintenance schedule.
• Reports problems and issues to the appropriate Manager.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Work Environment

• Must be able to work in rotating shifts, days, evenings, and nights.
• Must be able to work in extreme outdoor temperatures of hot and cold, extremely dusty conditions, and occasionally, conditions of high levels of noise.
• The ability to work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast-moving equipment.
• The ability to operate various types of equipment.

Pay Range: $24.00-36.00 per hour

The posted compensation range is based on the applicable geographic market for the position and may vary depending on factors such as related experience and skill set. Final compensation will be determined based on these items and other relevant factors.
