Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for a contract-to-hire role based in Savannah, GA. You will service and repair truck-mounted vacuum equipment in shop and on-site, perform preventative maintenance, and handle lubrication and fluids. Some travel to field service calls may be required.

The role requires at least three years of experience, a valid CDL or willingness to obtain one, and a High School Diploma or GED. Work is onsite with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Three years of verifiable experience as a mechanic.
• Own and supply a basic set of hand tools; company provides larger tools.
• Experience in Diesel, Heavy equipment, Hydraulics, Maintenance, Preventive maintenance, Brake, Troubleshooting.
• Possession of or willingness to obtain a CDL license.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Perform all scheduled PM inspections of chassis, vacuum body, hydraulic, electrical, air, and water systems.
• Repair in DOT or OEM standards to return rental equipment to Ready to Rent status.
• Perform and document 'check in' and 'check out' inspections of fleet equipment.
• Maintain and organize shop; ensure proper storage of flammable items.
• Demonstrate communication and teamwork; be self-motivated and timely.

Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic Job Description

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will perform repair and service procedures on truck-mounted vacuum equipment in the shop. Responsibilities include routine preventative maintenance inspections and handling lubrication, fuels, and fluids. The position may require travel to make field service and repair calls. Additionally, the mechanic will be responsible for cleaning the trucks, including minor detailing of the interior and washing the exterior. Maintaining a clean and organized workspace is also required, along with performing housekeeping duties when no trucks are in need of service.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Effectively read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Perform all scheduled PM inspections of chassis, vacuum body, hydraulic, electrical, air, and water systems.
• Conduct all repairs within DOT or OEM standards to return rental equipment to 'Ready to Rent' status.
• Perform and document 'check in' and 'check out' inspections of fleet equipment.
• Maintain and organize shop and storage areas ensuring proper storage of flammable items.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills and work effectively as part of a team.
• Be self-motivated, accountable, and timely in all assignments.

Essential Skills

• Service, repair, DOT inspection, hydraulic system, mechanical.
• Minimum of three years of verifiable experience as a mechanic.
• Ability to own and supply a basic set of hand tools and storage box. The company provides large and specialized tools.
• Demonstrated experience in Diesel, Heavy equipment, Hydraulics, Maintenance technician, Preventive maintenance, Brake, Troubleshooting.
• Possession of or willingness to obtain a CDL license.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
