Job summary

Boart Longyear in Glendale, AZ is hiring Shop & Field Mechanics for long‑hour shifts with extensive travel to job sites. Expect heavy overtime, 14 days on with 7 days off, and field work with hospitalities such as per diem and hotel accommodations.

Duties include maintenance on drill rigs and support equipment, diagnostics of hydraulic and electrical systems, and on-site repair until units are back in operation. Candidates should be self-motivated and able to work in adverse weather.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of mechanic experience required.
• Experience with electrical and hydraulic schematics required.
• Some welding and fabrication experience recommended.
• Must have own tools.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to attain a CDL.
• MSHA/OSHA certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair and maintain fleet of drill rigs and support equipment.
• Diagnose hydraulic problems and perform quick turnaround to keep rigs in operation.
• Work on electric powered hydraulic systems, diesel hydraulic systems and high pressure pneumatic systems.
• Travel for 14-day shifts (14 days on, 7 days off) and long 12–14 hour days.
• Communicate with supervisor, driller and safety personnel; work with minimal supervision.

Job description

As a Shop & Field Mechanic with Boart Longyear, you can expect:

• Between $160,000 and $185,000 annual earning potential
• Working up to 14 hour days with overtime scheduled (2800-3300 hours/year potential)
• Working 14 day hitches, with 7 days off in-between
• Hotel PAID for + up to$200/dayper diem PAID
• $4/hour shift differential pay for field hours, with 90% of your time in the field

We are hiring hour-hungry and travel-ready candidates for Shop & Field Mechanic positions which involve heavy scheduled overtime and paid travel to jobsites for hitch-work (14 days on, 7 days off), with occasional shop-work and general reporting based out of our Glendale, AZ corporate facilities. In this position you will gain valuable knowledge of our fleet of drill rigs and support equipment. Duties in the workshop will include training, equipment repairs and overhauls. Time spent in the field will be for routine maintenance on equipment and emergency breakdown repairs at various locations.

Responsibilities

• Applicants should be eager to learn, be self-motivated and have a desire to become a team leader.
• This person will perform a variety of duties designed to service, repair and maintain Boart Longyear’s Fleet of drill rigs and support equipment.
• Some of the repairs you will be performing include working on electric powered hydraulic systems, diesel powered hydraulic systems and machinery as well as high pressure pneumatic systems.
• Must have the ability to diagnose hydraulic problems in equipment and be able to perform quick turnaround to get these rigs back in operation.
• Electrical certification desired.
• Mechanic must be able to remain in a standing position for extended periods of time. You need to be able to lift your arms above shoulder level to install and remove broken or worn-out components.
• You must have skills in the care and use of hand and power tools and be able to manipulate these tools in areas of limited space.
• You must be able to work safely.
• Be willing to travel for 14-day shifts (with 7 days off) and to work long 12-14 hour days in adverse weather conditions.
• Must be able to work well with others and have a positiveattitude.
• Must be able to communicate with supervisor, driller andsafety personnel.
• Must be able to work with little or no supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of mechanic experience required, with established previous job tenure preferred
• Experience with electrical and hydraulic schematics required
• Some welding and fabrication experience recommended
• Hydraulic experience, pumps manifolds cylinder repairs recommended
• Basic diesel engine and fuel system diagnostic experience
• Electrical experience or certification is a plus.
• Knowledge of high-pressure air systems, i.e. screw compressors and boosters is a plus.
• Knowledge of duplex and triplex mud pumps is a plus.
• Able to work minimum 50 + hrs per week with scheduled overtime
• Be able to lift 50 pounds frequently
• Pass a drug screen and background check
• Must have own tools
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to attain a CDL
• Must be able to be MSHA/OSHA certified
