You will perform preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel and gas-powered machinery to minimize downtime and keep our construction tools out in the field ready. Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in similar roles.
• Experience maintaining diesel/gas equipment and general construction tools.
• Based out of Manassas, VA shop.
• Ability to work in a clean, modern shop and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate and test equipment to ensure it passes quality and efficiency standards
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all fleet equipment and trucks
• Conduct oil changes, lubrication, hose repairs, battery replacements and assorted services
• Recondition and replace assorted parts of small tools, heavy equipment, and fleet trucks
• Diagnose problem areas for wear or tear on equipment
• Adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a clean, organized work area

Job description

L.F. Jennings, Inc., is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to support our team through the maintenance of our rental fleet. We are a general contractor with a rental equipment division and are looking for mechanic to maintain our equipment shop. This Heavy Equipment Mechanic role performs preventive maintenance in a clean modern shop, and makes repairs on equipment in the safest, most effective way possible to avoid downtime. Our fleet primarily includes general construction tools and diesel/gas equipment. We desire a candidate with a minimum of three years of experience in similar roles. This position will be based out of our Manassas, Virginia shop location.

Responsibilities

• Operate and test equipment to ensure it passes quality and efficiency standards
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all fleet equipment and trucks
• Conduct oil changes, lubrication of equipment, hose repairs, battery replacements and assorted services
• Recondition and replace assorted parts of small tools, heavy equipment, and Fleet Trucks
• Diagnoses problem areas for any significant wear or tear on the equipment
• Ability to be flexible with changing priorities
• Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner

Professional Experience

• Ownership of sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services
• Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps and assorted tools and equipment
• Computer skills to support entering information into systems
• Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently

Skills

• Ability to drive/operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment
• Ability to handle assorted tools properly and safely
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds
• Understanding the importance of time management
