Job summary

Rumpke of Ohio, Inc. in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a heavy equipment mechanic to perform repair and maintenance duties safely and efficiently. The role requires troubleshooting with manuals, diagrams, and schematics, plus 1–2 years of relevant experience.

You will service equipment per schedules, conduct emergency repairs, and maintain accurate repair records while interacting professionally with customers. DOE/EOE guidelines apply.

Qualifications

Experience using repair manuals, wiring diagrams and schematics to troubleshoot or repair equipment.
1–2 years of applicable experience required.
Must be able to read and speak English.

Responsibilities

Perform repair and maintenance of heavy equipment in a safe manner in compliance with regulations and policies.
Service equipment per maintenance schedules and daily inspection reports.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform repairs or replacements.
Perform emergency repairs on breakdowns.
Inspect, lubricate, fuel and service equipment.
Check fluids and change filters as needed.
Repair equipment support systems such as electrical, hydraulic, suspension, air, and brake systems.
Ensure safety devices on equipment are functioning properly.
Perform routine welding repairs to equipment.
Maintain repair orders, parts usage, and repair times in a computerized system.
Keep work areas clean and safe; interact professionally with customers.

Responsibilities of Position

Perform repair and maintenance of heavy equipment in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies
Service equipment per company maintenance schedules and/or from equipment daily inspection reports
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and make necessary repairs, adjustments, or replacements
Perform emergency repairs on breakdowns
Inspect, lubricate, fuel and service equipment
Check, fill, and/or change appropriate fluids for all equipment parts and check/change filters
Inspect, diagnose, and repair equipment support systems, such as electrical, hydraulic, suspension, air, and brake systems
Identify, perform repairs, and make adjustments to various components and operating systems on the equipment or related components
Ensure all safety devices on equipment are in good working order
Perform routine welding repairs to equipment
Maintain accurate repair orders, parts usage, and repair times through the utilization of a computerized system
Perform routine housekeeping duties related to materials, tools, shop, and work areas to maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards
Professionally interact with internal and external customers
Perform oher duties as assigned

This position will not manage employees

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position

Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks
Familiarity with using a computer
Excellent mechanical aptitude in heavy equipment maintenance and repair

Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position

Experience using repair manuals, wiring (electrical) diagrams, and schematics necessary to troubleshoot or repair equipment or component failure
1-2 years of applicable experience required

Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday

Frequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbs
Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 75 lbs
Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs
Frequently working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
Frequently working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
Frequently climbing and/or balancing
Frequently sitting/standing/walking

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects

Must be at least 19 years of age
Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
Exposure to residential and commercial waste
Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
Legally eligible to work in the United States
Valid driver's license (if applicable)
Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
Must be able to read and speak the English language
