Lever, Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician in Richmond, VA. This hands-on role focuses on repairs and preventive maintenance for heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, cranes, and other motorized machinery.

The successful candidate will diagnose and repair equipment, prioritize repairs with the Shop Foreman, and ensure safety and efficiency in a fast-paced shop environment. Travel up to 50% may be required, with a 24/7 readiness expectation for emergencies.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience on heavy equipment and/or trailers.
  • 5+ years in two additional technical areas (hydraulics, electronics, or small engines).
  • High School Diploma/GED plus trade school or diesel training.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, cranes, and other motorized equipment.
  • Review daily assignments with the Shop Foreman and prioritize repair work.
  • Keep necessary tools and parts organized to reduce downtime.
  • Complete work orders accurately with mileage, operating hours, and repair details.
  • Communicate emergency repair needs to the Shop Foreman and respond quickly.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in an organized condition.
  • Follow safety procedures and regulations.
  • Work with the team to complete repairs efficiently and on schedule.
  • Perform other shop and maintenance duties as needed.

Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician

Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Direct Hire
Pay: Starting at $23.00/hour, with higher pay available depending on experience
Travel: Up to 50%

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician to handle repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, cranes, and other motorized equipment. This is a hands-on position requiring strong mechanical skills and flexibility to respond to emergency repairs.

What You'll Do
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, cranes, and other motorized equipment.
  • Review daily assignments with the Shop Foreman and prioritize repair work.
  • Keep necessary tools and parts organized and readily available to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Complete work orders accurately, including mileage, operating hours, and repair information.
  • Communicate emergency repair needs to the Shop Foreman and respond to priority assignments.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in an organized condition.
  • Follow required safety procedures and regulations.
  • Work with the team to complete repairs efficiently and on schedule.
  • Perform other shop and maintenance duties as needed.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience working with heavy equipment and/or trailers/cranes.
  • 5+ years of experience in at least two additional technical areas, such as hydraulics, electronics, or small engines.
  • High School Diploma/GED plus trade school or equivalent diesel mechanical training.
  • Two years of technical/vocational school training and five years of hands-on repair experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and respond with urgency.
Schedule & Travel
  • Up to 50% travel.
  • Must be available 24/7 for emergency calls.
  • Must be willing to travel both out of town and out of state.
  • Ability to work extended hours and in varying weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, walking, and lifting.
  • Regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Assistance required for items weighing more than 75 lbs.
  • Comfortable working extended hours and outdoors in different weather conditions.
