Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan seeks a skilled maintenance technician to help safely repair and service heavy equipment at our Sierrita operations, located near Tucson, AZ. You will support journeyman mechanics, perform preventative maintenance, complete work orders and document activities.

Ideal candidates bring a high school diploma or GED, the ability to follow English instructions, and a commitment to safety. A non-standard schedule may apply in a 24/7 operation with pre-employment testing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written English instructions.
• Must pass required training and testing, and demonstrate safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair heavy equipment (Haul Trucks, Water Trucks, Dozers, Loaders, Graders).
• Assist Journeyman Mechanics with maintenance on transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials, pumps, motors and torque converters.
• Perform preventative maintenance and complete Work Orders/documentation.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and conduct housekeeping and area checks.
• Operate equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and small mobile equipment when required.
