Job summary

Radius Recycling is seeking a Mechanic Apprentice to support maintenance on mobile, heavy, and stationary equipment. The role emphasizes lubrication, preventive maintenance, part replacement, and adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards in a scrap yard setting.

Applicants should be able to perform physically demanding tasks, climb, lift, and handle materials, with a basic command of English.

Qualifications

• Ability to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
• Ability to speak and understand English as a basic level required.
• Ability to learn new tasks as assigned.
• Experience in a scrap yard preferred.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance desired.

Responsibilities

• Lubricate inspect and perform preventive maintenance tasks on heavy equipment and stationary shredder mill machinery.
• Complete required documentation associated with the installation, replacement, or changing of machine parts and attachments.
• Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
• Operation of a fueling truck may be required when fueling equipment.
• Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned.
