Job summary

Newman Tractor, LLC is seeking a dependable Field Service Technician to diagnose and repair heavy construction equipment at customer sites. The role involves extensive travel to Oklahoma and the Dallas–Fort Worth region, with overnight travel likely and significant overtime potential.

This full-time position reports to our Belmont, OH branch and requires strong diagnostic skills, telematics know-how, and clear communication. A valid driver's license and 5+ years in the field are essential.

Qualifications

• Willingness to travel to customer sites for full work week.
• Extensive knowledge of heavy equipment systems (diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, transmissions).
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and telematics platforms.
• Minimum of 5 years in heavy equipment maintenance/repair.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on heavy equipment.
• Perform repairs, adjustments, and replacements to restore functionality.
• Use diagnostic tools, telematics data, and history to identify issues.
• Conduct scheduled maintenance (fluid checks, oil changes, filters, lubrication).
• Inspect equipment for wear, damage, or failure points; ensure safety systems work.
• Document repairs, parts usage, and labor in the ERP system.
• Travel to customer sites; communicate symptoms and confirm issues.
• Provide updates to customers and suggest additional maintenance or repairs.
