Job summary

WPI is seeking a Service Technician – Class B to perform maintenance, repair, and service on heavy equipment in a developing capacity, with guidance from experienced mechanics. The role includes routine checks, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance across fluid systems, brakes, hydraulics.

Must have a High School diploma or equivalent, 2 years in construction/mining machinery, ability to lift 50 pounds, read schematics, operate test equipment, and pass drug/alcohol tests.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in construction/mining machinery
• Must read manuals and schematics
• Must pass drug and alcohol testing per policy
• Must have current driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance checks on fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, and clutches
• Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs heavy equipment parts
• Repairs and maintains drive axles, suspensions, and hydrostatic transmissions
• Tunes engines, services fuel systems, and checks injectors and governors
• Disassembles, repairs, and reassembles components in cooling, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Ensures safe, proficient completion of jobs and cleans work area after each assignment
• Reads and interprets manuals and schematics to support repairs
