Job summary

Gerhold Concrete Company, Inc., A CRH Company, is seeking a skilled mechanic to support its Nebraska plant locations. You will inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair trucks, end dumps, tractors, trailers, and heavy construction equipment across rural Nebraska.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, electrical/hydraulic repairs, parts ordering, and ensuring safety standards. High school diploma or GED and 1–3 years of diesel/heavy equipment experience are required. CDL is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years of experience with diesel trucks and/or various heavy equipment.
• Experience working on ready-mix trucks and experience in the building materials/construction industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots problems, making economical and durable repairs.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists and hand tools.
• Maintains and repairs heavy equipment, trucks, shop, and non-mobile equipment on a company-wide basis.
• Services vehicles/equipment to include oil changes, greasing, adding fluids, changing filters and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules.
• Troubleshoots and repairs electrical and hydraulic systems, diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, drive trains, etc.
• Orders parts and supplies through parts department.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Starts and run or drive devices to test their performance.
• Welds broken parts and structural members as necessary.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• Other duties as assigned.
