Job summary

Hightower Communications, Inc. seeks an experienced Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician with extensive hands-on work on Class 8 trucks, cranes, and construction equipment to maintain our fleet and keep operations running at peak performance in Lexington, NC.

You will diagnose, repair, and service diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, perform preventive maintenance, manage parts, and travel overnight as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience working on heavy equipment and commercial trucks (Class 8 semi-trucks and larger)
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
• CDL Class A license required or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
• Proficiency in diagnostic tools and reading schematics
• Certifications in Diesel Repair (ASE T1-T8 preferred)
• Heavy Equipment Certifications (NCCER, CAT, Komatsu – a plus)
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work Saturday or Sunday (weekday off provided in exchange)
• Willingness to travel overnight (1-2 nights per week) as needed

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered heavy equipment, commercial trucks, cranes, winches, loaders, and excavators
• Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and safety inspections
• Troubleshoot and repair engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and electrical components
• Use diagnostic tools to assess and resolve mechanical issues efficiently
• Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with FMCSA and safety regulations
• Perform field service repairs when equipment cannot be transported to the shop
• Manage parts inventory and assist with ordering necessary components
• Help develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for the fleet
• Ensure proper handling and disposal of fluids and hazardous materials
