Job summary

Hightower-Communicatio seeks an experienced Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician to service Class 8 trucks, cranes, and construction equipment. You will diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance to keep the fleet running at peak performance.

Minimum 7 years of hands-on diesel experience, strong hydraulics and electrical knowledge, CDL Class A or ability to obtain within 90 days. Overnight travel 1–2 nights weekly; ASE/T1-T8 and NCCER/CAT/KOMATSU certifications are pluses.

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on experience with heavy equipment and Class 8 trucks.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical systems.
• CDL Class A license required or obtainable within 90 days.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools and schematics reading.
• ASE T1-T8 Diesel Repair certifications preferred.
• Heavy Equipment certifications (NCCER, CAT, Komatsu) a plus.
• Excellent troubleshooting and detail orientation.
• Willing to travel overnight 1-2 nights weekly.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered heavy equipment and trucks.
• Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, filter replacements, inspections.
• Troubleshoot engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical components.
• Use diagnostic tools to assess issues and resolve efficiently.
• Maintain service records and comply with FMCSA and safety rules.
• Perform field repairs when shop access is unavailable.
• Manage parts inventory and assist with ordering.
• Contribute to preventive maintenance schedules for fleet.
• Handle fluids and hazardous material disposal properly.

Job Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered heavy equipment, commercial trucks, cranes, winches, loaders, and excavators
• Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and safety inspections
• Troubleshoot and repair engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and electrical components
• Use diagnostic tools to assess and resolve mechanical issues efficiently
• Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with FMCSA and safety regulations
• Perform field service repairs when equipment cannot be transported to the shop
• Manage parts inventory and assist with ordering necessary components
• Help develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for the fleet
• Ensure proper handling and disposal of fluids and hazardous materials

Qualifications:

• Certifications in Diesel Repair (ASE T1-T8 preferred)
• Heavy Equipment Certifications (NCCER, CAT, Komatsu, etc. - a plus)
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work Saturday or Sunday (weekday off provided in exchange)
• Willingness to travel overnight (1-2 nights per week) as needed
