You will respond to scheduled maintenance and field service calls, with responsibilities including electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting, OEM-spec repairs, and keeping precise records.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic.
  • Proficient in electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, mechanical systems, and heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret OEM manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of construction equipment (excavators, loaders, backhoes, cranes, skid steers).
  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Complete in-depth repairs per OEM specifications and conduct preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain service records and parts usage logs; assist with field service calls.

State Utility Contractors, Inc.,a 100 percent employee owned heavy civil utility construction company with over 40 yearsof success, is seeking an Heavy Equipment Mechanic with 5+years of experience to join our team. This is a great opportunity for adriven and experienced mechanic to take on a critical role in ouroperations—working both in the field and in the shop to keep our fleet runningefficiently.

Position Summary

As a HeavyEquipment Mechanic, you will play a vital role in diagnosing, repairing,and maintaining a wide range of construction equipment, including excavators,loaders, backhoes, cranes, skid steers, and more. This position requires strongtechnical ability, a self-starter attitude, and a commitment to quality andsafety. You will report directly to the Equipment Manager and respond to bothscheduled maintenance needs and field service calls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshoot electrical,mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Complete in-depth repairs on various types ofheavy equipment per OEM specifications.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, equipmentservices, and on-site repairs including cylinder and hydraulic hose work.
  • Utilize hand and power tools to carry out repairtasks efficiently and safely.
  • Maintain accurate service records and parts usagelogs.
  • Operate heavy machinery as necessary to test andvalidate repairs.
  • Interact professionally with crews and operatorsto ensure minimal equipment downtime.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and ensure workis performed in a safe manner.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic.
  • Proficient in electrical and hydraulictroubleshooting and repair.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, mechanicalsystems, and heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret OEM manuals,schematics, and service bulletins.
  • Capable of working independently in the field withlittle to no supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment backgroundcheck and drug screening.
  • Engine overhaul experience is a plus.
