Placements24 is seeking a qualified Heavy Duty Vehicle Mechanic to join a busy workshop in Welkom. You will maintain, repair, and overhaul a fleet of heavy‑duty trucks and machinery, ensuring reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance.

You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventative maintenance, use diagnostic software and specialized tools, and keep accurate service logs. A relevant trade qualification and physical stamina are required.

Qualifications

• Experience as Heavy Duty Mechanic or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle systems, including diesel engines, transmissions and hydraulics.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy‑duty vehicles, including engines, transmissions, hydraulics and braking systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues for heavy vehicles.
• ConductScheduled preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize fleet availability.
