Position Overview

Job Title: Heavy Duty Truck Operator.

A Heavy Duty Truck Operator drives a heavy duty truck or truck‑trailer combination, special purpose truck, tanker truck, or other heavy duty truck safely, lawfully and skillfully; operates mechanical attachments on the truck; and may act as a head worker or helper in a crew when not driving.

Salary

The salary in the Department of Water and Power is $86,338 to $91,162; $98,177 (flat-rated); and $101,831 (flat-rated).

Qualifications

• A valid unrestricted California Class A driver’s license and a valid medical certificate approved by the State of California.
• Two years of full‑time paid experience driving a truck of more than 26,001 pounds gross vehicle weight or equivalent experience in a related City of Los Angeles position.
• Successful completion of an approved truck‑operation training course, including at least one month of behind‑the‑wheel instruction in vehicles of more than 26,001 pounds gross vehicle weight, may substitute for six months of the required experience.
