Job summary

Structural Systems Inc in Hawaii is seeking a dependable Heavy Duty Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance on engines and hydraulic systems for on- and off-road mobile equipment, including trucks and trailers.

The role requires hands-on repairs, diagnostics, and record-keeping, with regular 7:00 am–3:30 pm hours, Monday–Friday, and overtime as needed. Valid CDL is a plus; lifting up to 50 lbs; ability to work in all weather.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience with basic knowledge of hydraulic systems, mechanical and electronic engines, mobile equipment, and vehicles.
• Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for significant lengths of time in an industrial environment with exposure to all elements of weather.
• Ability to work overtime as necessary outside of normally scheduled shifts with little or no advance notification.
• Capable of performing a wide range of physical activities which include pulling, reaching, bending, climbing, and kneeling.
• Experience with hydraulics/pneumatics, wiring, and working on heavy equipment. Proficient in reading and understanding technical documents, diagrams, and service manuals.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Valid Commercial Driver License is a plus.
• Welding, cutting, and fabrication skills.

Responsibilities

• Repair engine failures, mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, body repair, and replacing parts and components.
• Services machinery and mechanical equipment by completing repairs on engines, hydraulics systems, mobile and stationary equipment.
• Use computers to issue parts and update comments on work orders/task lists including diagnostic programs for engines and hydraulic systems, OEM, and brake systems.
• Prepares and maintains accurate records of services and repairs.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs when needed.
• Maintains work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows safety regulations.
• Demonstrates dependability in attendance, work completions, and flexibility to meet business needs.
• Effectively communicates with co-workers and customers in a positive manner.
• Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work

• This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am through 3:30 pm, minimum 40 hours per week and overt-time as required. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
