Job summary

ProLift Rigging is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to perform preventative and corrective maintenance on diesel-powered equipment including cranes, forklifts, and trailers. The role involves diagnosing issues in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and onboard electronics, and working closely with operators to ensure equipment remains safe and ready for operation.

Candidate should have 3+ years in diesel maintenance, CDL, and experience with Cummins and CAT engines.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in diesel maintenance.
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills in diesel systems.
  • Experience with Cummins and CAT diesel engines.
  • Reading electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Willing to work day and/or night shifts, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Perform PM and corrective maintenance on diesel engines, booms, electrical and hydraulic systems, brakes and related components.
  • Works on cranes, forklifts, tractor trailers, and other heavy equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with operators and other mechanics; coordinate resources across the maintenance lifecycle.

Job Summary:

The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on diesel-powered equipment, including cranes, forklifts, tractor trailers, and other heavy equipment. This role troubleshoots and repairs diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical and onboard computer systems, brakes, booms, outriggers, pumps, and other mechanical components. The Mechanic works closely with equipment operators and fellow mechanics to identify issues, complete repairs, and help ensure equipment remains safe, reliable, and ready for operation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for performing PM and corrective maintenance on diesel engines, booms, electrical systems (including troubleshooting onboard computer systems), hydraulic systems (booms, outriggers, pumps), brakes and other basic components
  • Must have the ability to work on hydraulic and conventional cranes, forklifts, tractor trailers and miscellaneous equipment
  • Must work well and communicate effectively with operators and other mechanics
  • Position will manage branch resources throughout the maintenance lifecycle
Work Environment:
  • Construction sites, industrial facilities, and maintenance shops.
  • Exposure to outdoor elements, loud noises, and heavy machinery.
  • Requires standing, climbing, bending, and lifting heavy materials.
  • May require overtime, weekend work, or travel to different job sites.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in diesel maintenance with proven troubleshooting skills
  • Must work safely in a fast-paced environment – many times under pressure
  • Experienced with Cummins and CAT diesel engines and systems
  • Experience in gasoline and propane engines
  • Proven ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Must have current CDL
  • Creative thinking skills to make continuous improvements
  • Willing to work day and or night shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Must pass drug test, fit for duty test and background check
  • Have basic computer skills, Excel skills, and the ability to work with digital record keeping
