Job summary

UFP Transportation, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain, diagnose, and repair medium and heavy-duty transportation equipment including trucks and trailers. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

A CDL or ability to obtain one is required, with a 40-hour work week and possible overtime. The position emphasizes equipment reliability, accurate record-keeping, and collaboration with fleet operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of experience in maintenance and repair of medium/heavy-duty transportation equipment preferred.
• Valid state driver’s license required; Class A CDL or ability to obtain CDL required.
• Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations as they pertain to maintenance and operation of transportation equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to read and interpret vehicle schematics and service manuals.
• Basic knowledge and use of computer systems; familiarity with Microsoft systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and scheduled preventative maintenance on medium and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
• Perform reactive maintenance as needed.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and software to identify issues and perform corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
• Practice safety awareness in all tasks, including lock-out/tag-out procedures and OSHA standards.
• Collaborate with fleet operations and other departments to ensure equipment readiness and minimize downtime.
• Organize parts, tools, and materials in designated areas for efficient workflow.
• Lift, move, push, pull, and carry materials and components weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted.
• Display a positive, team-oriented attitude and support management objectives.
• Operate equipment to move tractor-trailers around the yard and test equipment after repairs.
