Job summary

Sahling Kenworth in Kearney, NE is hiring entry level and experienced diesel truck mechanics to repair, troubleshoot, and maintain Class 8 trucks. Candidates should be mechanically inclined, with 3–5 years for experienced technicians and a valid CDL eligibility.

Excellent benefits offered; mobile positions may be available for experienced techs. Primary duties include diagnosing faults, ordering parts, performing tests, and documenting repairs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 3–5 years of diesel mechanic experience for experienced technicians.
• Personal tool inventory required to complete duties.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to obtain a Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
• Ability to read and interpret repair orders, repair manuals, electrical schematics and bulletins.
• Ability to use computer keyboards and Windows basics.
• Must be able to work outdoors and in varying weather.
• Work 8–10 hour days with possible overtime.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Performs corrective and preventative maintenance on medium and heavy duty vehicles.
• Troubleshoots electrical, drive train, HVAC, brake, engine, and suspension systems; identifies repairs.
• Writes up repair orders with clear causes and procedures.
• Uses diagnostic equipment to detect and isolate faults and interprets results.
• Reads fault descriptions and determines efficient repair procedures.
• Communicates repair details to Shop Foreman and parts personnel.
• Performs road tests to verify repairs and assists in problem isolation.
• Tracks and records hours for each Repair Order.
• Interacts with customers in a professional manner.
