Job summary

Vinny's Truck Center in Hagerstown, MD is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair and maintain our customers' medium- and heavy-duty trucks, trailers and equipment. You'll keep fleets on the road by doing the work right the first time, documenting it clearly, and flagging issues before they become breakdowns.

Reports to Shop Foreman. Full-time, on-site position requiring a valid driver's license and basic hand tools.

Qualifications

2+ years hands-on diesel repair experience on medium- or heavy-duty trucks.
Knowledge of diesel engines, air brakes and 12/24V electrical systems.
Ability to read service manuals and schematics.
Experience with diagnostic laptops and software.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair diesel engines, fuel systems, turbochargers and aftertreatment (DPF, DEF/SCR, EGR).
Troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring, sensors and ECMs using OEM and aftermarket diagnostic software.
Perform preventive maintenance: oil and filter service, fluid checks, lubrication and scheduled inspections.
Repair and adjust air brake systems, suspensions, steering, drivetrains, transmissions and differentials.
Service HVAC, cooling and hydraulic systems.
Complete DOT annual inspections and document defects to FMCSA standards.
Record labor, parts and findings accurately in the work order or fleet maintenance system.
Road-test vehicles to verify repairs.
Respond to roadside or on-site service calls as scheduled.
Keep tools, bays and equipment clean, organized and safe; follow all shop safety and environmental procedures.
