Priority Waste in Michigan seeks a Heavy Duty Machinery Mechanic to repair and maintain refuse vehicles and heavy equipment. You will service diesel engines, hydraulic systems, brakes, steering, and electrical components; utilize diagnostic tools and perform welding as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a heavy‑duty diesel technician or mechanic.
• Experience performing maintenance and repairs on refuse trucks, heavy‑duty vehicles, and/or heavy equipment.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Must be willing to work 1st or 2nd shift; CDL is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive, routine, and corrective maintenance on heavy‑duty diesel vehicles and refuse collection equipment.
• Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains diesel engines and related components; troubleshoots hydraulic systems and PTO components.
• Uses electronic diagnostic tools to identify issues; performs electrical diagnostics and repairs.
• Performs welding, fabrication, and general repairs; maintains brakes, suspension, steering, drivetrain, and other systems.
• Completes maintenance work orders and ensures vehicles pass inspections; maintains a clean, safe work area.
