Job summary

Garbage to Garden in Portland, ME is seeking a Heavy-Duty Diesel Fleet Mechanic to keep our trucks on the road and operating at peak performance. This in-person role emphasizes safety, problem-solving, and high-quality workmanship within a community-focused fleet.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of experience on heavy diesel equipment, strong troubleshooting skills, and is comfortable using modern diagnostic tools. A $3500 sign-on bonus accompanies a $35.00 per hour pay and on-site work.”

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
• High school diploma or GED.
• 1–3 years experience working on heavy diesel equipment.
• Must provide own basic mechanic’s hand tools; specialty tools and diagnostic equipment are supplied by the company.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair diesel engines, transmissions and heavy equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, brake, suspension, and drive systems using diagnostic equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs as directed; complete work orders and maintain records.
• Respond to roadside breakdowns and perform field repairs as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and comply with safety policies.
