Kriete Truck Centers in Fond du Lac, WI, is hiring a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, maintain, and repair Class 6-8 trucks using OEM software and tools. Join a team focused on safety, quality, and customer service in a fast-paced shop environment.

We offer a $6,000 sign-on bonus, up to $30/hour starting, and benefits including 401(k), PTO, and training opportunities. CDL is preferred but not required; CDL may be pursued after joining.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with diesel engines and heavy-duty truck repairs preferred.
  • Proficiency in diagnostic fault-code troubleshooting using laptop-based software.
  • Ability to navigate dealer management and OEM diagnostic systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to relay technical information clearly.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks such as walking, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Forklift operation experience is a plus but not required.
  • Sound judgment and ability to make logical decisions in a fast-paced service environment.
  • Ability to remain professional at all times and work collaboratively with other technicians to complete repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in Class 6, 7, and 8 trucks.
  • Perform maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, clutches, and electrical systems.
  • Utilize OEM diagnostic software and tools to ensure accurate assessments and repairs.
  • Clearly communicate findings, recommended repairs, and service updates with Service Advisors and Parts Counter Associates.
  • Maintain detailed repair orders and documentation of all repairs per dealership and manufacturer standards.
  • Road test vehicles to confirm proper repairs when required.
  • Participate in OEM-directed training to stay current on new technologies and warranty guidelines.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations (OSHA, hazardous waste disposal).
  • Keep the shop area clean and organized, ensuring tools are maintained properly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain detailed repair orders and documentation of all repairs in accordance with dealership and manufacturer standards.

Education & Work Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of hands-on mechanical experience or completion of/active enrollment in an accredited diesel program required
  • Basic tool set required – specialty tools provided.
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • CDL not required but preferred
  • Willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) is a plus.
