The City of Claremore is seeking a Heavy Construction Technician I or II to perform a variety of civil construction projects including streets, storm water facilities, and water/sewer work. This safety-sensitive role requires operating city equipment and following strict safety protocols under supervision.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and a valid Oklahoma driver's license; ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 6 months.

Under the general supervision of the Construction Technician and performs a variety of civil construction projects including streets, storm water facilities, and water and sewer line construction. This position requires the ability to operate a variety of city equipment and trucks utilized in construction, maintenance and repair activities. This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to random drug testing. Safety sensitive positions must comply to federal regulations where marijuana still remains illegal. Possession of a medical marijuana license does not exempt safety sensitive positions from federal regulations. Should one of these safety sensitive positions test positive on a drug test and lose the ability to perform within the job description outline, the City of Claremore will implement the zero-tolerance policy resulting in immediate termination.
Motorized vehicles and equipment, including dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck, tamper, plate compactor, saws, pumps, serial propane kettle, compressors, sanders, generators, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radio, phone, ditch witch.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and smell. The employee must lift and or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
