Job summary

Allan Myers, Inc. is offering an internship position in Virginia for students pursuing civil engineering, construction management, or related fields.

You'll work on asphalt plant operations, production scheduling, QC testing, and materials sampling, gaining hands-on experience with our region's largest heavy civil construction company. You'll be assigned to a buddy, participate in classroom training, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives on multi-month assignments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency (GED) required.
• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mining & Materials Engineering, Business Management, or another engineering related degree.
• Must be a team player and possess a collaborative attitude.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Willingness to learn and adapt to change.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily asphalt plant operations and production activities.
• Monitor asphalt production schedules and plant performance.
• Support quality control testing and material sampling procedures.
• Track inventory levels of aggregates, liquid asphalt, and other raw materials.
• Assist with production reporting, data collection, and operational analysis.
• Coordinate deliveries and logistics for incoming materials and outgoing product.
• Observe and support plant maintenance and equipment inspections.
• Review production records, safety procedures, and environmental compliance requirements.
• Assist with troubleshooting operational issues and identifying process improvements.
• Support plant supervisors and engineers with special projects and continuous improvement initiatives
