Job summary

TA Mechanical Group, Inc. is seeking a Lead Estimator to drive HVAC sheet metal projects from takeoff to final pricing.

Reporting to the President, you will grow the existing book of business on both installation and fabrication-supply sides and handle estimates for mechanical scopes when needed. Ideal candidates have 10+ years in HVAC estimating with sheet metal, proficiency in on-screen takeoff, and knowledge of SMACNA standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years HVAC estimating experience with a strong sheet metal background.
• Existing book of business to build on (required).
• Proficiency with on-screen takeoff and estimating software; Trimble AutoBid SheetMetal / AutoBid Mechanical (QuickPen) preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of duct fabrication, SMACNA standards and field installation.
• Experience pricing open-shop labor; Local 355 experience a plus.
• No degree required; your experience is what counts.

Responsibilities

Base salary: $125,000–$165,000, plus bonuses on new work you bring in

About us

TA Mechanical Group has been in the HVAC business since 1972. We handle all phases of HVAC work, with a focus on sheet-metal-heavy projects. We have our own fully functional sheet metal fabrication facility and a well-staffed shop of highly experienced people. Our owner is actively involved in the business.

We're growing in two directions: more sheet metal installation work, and fabricating and delivering finished sheet metal to other HVAC contractors. We're looking for a Lead Estimator to drive both.

The role

Reporting directly to the President, you'll:

• Estimate HVAC sheet metal projects from takeoff through final pricing, both for our own installations and for fabrication-only packages sold to other contractors
• Grow your existing book of business on both the installation and fabrication-supply sides
• Estimate mechanical scopes when needed (we still bid complete HVAC projects, but sheet metal is our priority)
• Hand completed estimates to our project managers, who handle negotiation and execution
