Job summary

Irving Oil is seeking a Heating Service Technician to service customers by diagnosing and repairing oil and propane-fired boilers, furnaces, water heaters, and tanks. You will ensure safe operation through careful testing, inspections, and documentation after each service call.

The role requires a valid propane or natural gas license (Nora certification is a plus) and experience with wiring and plumbing for diagnostics and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot oil and propane-fired boilers, furnaces, water heaters, and oil tanks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems using diagnostics and proper tools.
• Perform final inspections to ensure safe operation of equipment.
• Complete daily paperwork for each service call.
• Maintain inventory and ensure service truck is reliable.
• Rotational on-call evenings and weekends.

Job description

As a Heating Service Technician, you will be responsible for the day-to-day servicing of our customers. Your goal will be to troubleshoot and perform diagnostic activities regarding service equipment within our established policies and procedures. Your success is dependent on the quality of work you complete and the satisfaction of our customers’ needs.

Your Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot oil and propane-fired boilers, furnaces, water heaters, and oil tanks
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems that occur by reviewing diagnostics and using the proper tools to complete repairs
• Provide final inspections of systems once repairs are completed to ensure all equipment is operating safely
• Complete appropriate daily paperwork for each service call
• Maintain daily and yearly inventory
• Ensure the service truck is in good working order and reliable
• Perform other duties as required to maintain and enhance departmental productivity
• Rotational on-call evenings and weekends

Your Skills

• Ability to work well with others; good organization and communication skills, attention to detail and strong customer service
• Frequent driving, climbing in and out of vehicle working in confined spaces, heavy lifting and ability to work at heights ranging up to 50 ft
• Ability to install various types of heating equipment
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
• Strong decision-making skills

Your Experience

• A valid Propane or natural gas license. Nora Certification is an asset
• Knowledge of wiring and plumbing is required
• Heating technician experience considered an asset

The expected hourly range for this position is $25.00-$40.00. Placement within range will be based on relevant experience, qualifications, and skills.
