Baltimore County seeks a Heating and Air Conditioning Mechanic I to perform essential installation, repair, and maintenance tasks under supervision. Candidates must have two years of experience, relevant certifications, and fulfill physical demands. This full-time role may involve overtime and emergency response.
Pay Schedule II, Grade H20, Regular Schedule: 40 hours per week
A vacancy exists in the Office of Budget and Finance, Division of Property Management.

Under close supervision, performs beginning and intermediate level service, maintenance, and repair to heating, air conditioning, refrigerating, and ventilating equipment, and assists higher skilled workers with more complex installation and repairs.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years' experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, air conditioning, refrigerating, and ventilating equipment
Related education may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to two years of the required experience.
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of Type I and Type II E.P.A.-approved refrigerant certification for technicians is required at the time of appointment. Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.

Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant's major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

Employees in this classification are designated as Emergency/Essential and may be required to work overtime with little or no advanced notice. Persons in this classification are subject to call to duty in emergencies and subject to standby duty for after-hours emergencies on a rotating basis.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this classification entails performance of heavy physical labor including bending, stooping, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying very heavy objects, and the operation of motor vehicles, and hand and power tools. Some work requires exposure to potentially hazardous conditions such as adverse weather and electricity.
Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation
Applicants selected for an appointment to a position in Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination and drug screen and an employment background investigation, including, but not limited to a criminal background, education, and fingerprint check.
