Qualifications

• Entry Level: 0-24 months of heat-treating experience required.
• Mid-Level: 2-3 years of heat-treating experience preferred.
• Senior-Level: 3-5 years of heat-treating experience preferred.

Candidates must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and basic physical. They must be able to work full‑time, 40+ hours per week. The work hours for this position are 6 pm – 6 am.

Due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market, Bodycote deems this position safety‑sensitive.

Summary

Based in Highland Heights, Ohio, the Heat Treater will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the foremen and/or plant manager to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed.

Skills

Level C: Entry Level (0‑24 months of heat‑treating experience)

• Assists with operations, control, and monitoring of heat‑treating and related equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.

Level B: Mid‑Level (2‑3 years of experience)

• Operates, controls, and monitors heat‑treating equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.

Level A: Senior‑Level (3‑5 years of experience)

• Independently operates, controls, and monitors heat‑treating equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

• Prepares work for processing; loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.
• Brings any unusual problems or irregularities to the attention of the supervisor.
• Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
• Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
• Ensures careful care and treatment of customer inventory, preventing loss or damage.
• Reports to work on time, follows directions, interacts effectively with co‑workers, understands and follows rules and procedures, and accepts constructive criticism.

Qualifications

• This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent resident card holders.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of metallurgy, temperatures, etc.
• May be required to work overtime, any shift, including weekends.
• Must obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.
• Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Physical & Mental Demands

• Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods in an industrial environment.
• Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
• May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity.
• Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
• Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Visual acuity sufficient to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
• Ability to hear in person and via phone.
