Job summary

Bodycote plc is seeking a Heat Treater based in Cincinnati, OH/Fairfield, OH. You will assist with heat treating operations under the Production Manager and support other team members to meet customer specifications.

The role requires readiness for 3rd shift (10:00 pm–6:30 am, Mon–Fri) and adherence to safety and quality standards. Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus in addition to standard benefits.

Qualifications

  • Requires ITAR compliance; U.S. Citizens or permanent residents.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and temperatures helpful.
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required.
  • Must obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.
  • Must read, write, and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload furnaces, bins, fixtures, and related components.
  • Operate, monitor, and control heat treating equipment."step" procedures.
  • Promote safety and good housekeeping.
  • Perform assigned duties and respond to supervisor as needed.
  • Safely manage customer inventory and prevent loss or damage.

Job description

Candidates must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and basic physical and have the ability to work full‑time, 40+ hours per week. Due to the nature of our business, this position is safety‑sensitive.

Job Summary

Based in Cincinnati, OH/Fairfield, OH, the Heat Treater will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Production Manager to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed.

Job Levels
  • Level C: Entry Level: 0 to 24 months of heat treating experience. You will be expected to learn and grow in your role, with guidance from senior team members.
    • Assists with operations, control, and monitoring of heat treating and related equipment as required and as written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.
  • Level B: Mid‑Level: 2 to 3 years of experience in heat treating. You should have a proven track record in heat treating, along with the ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.
    • Operates, controls, and monitors heat treating equipment as required and as written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.
  • Level A: Senior‑Level: 3 to 5 years of experience and a deep understanding of heat treating. You will lead initiatives, mentor junior team members, and make strategic contributions to the department.
    • Independently operates, controls, and monitors heat treating equipment as required and as written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.
Essential Job Functions
  • Prepares work for processing; loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.
  • Brings any unusual problems or irregularities to the attention of the supervisor.
  • Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
  • This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customers’ inventory and, as such, will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.
  • Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co‑workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
  • Must be able to work required 3rd shift: 10:00 pm‑6:30 am, Mon‑Fri.

  • Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods of time in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone.
